Factory Locations

I started a project that involved mapping and documenting significant information onf former Allis-Chalmers factory complexes. Using maining literature and books, as well as help from fellow Allis-Chalmers enthusiasts, I am mapping out the locations of these factories using Google Maps tool. The map is not done yet, but I am working on adding locations. The blue markers are complexes that were part of the large Allis-Chalmers firm. The green markers are locations of industries that built components for Allis-Chalmers under contract.

  1. Topeka built the Model 345 Payloader with the imported Perkins diesel engine. This machine was also built at the Essendine, England plant.

  2. My 1985 4WD Allis Chalmers 6140 Diesel Tractor that I just restored was built in Japan. All bolts and nuts are metric. Wonder if that plant also closed in 1985?

    1. Jim, Allis Didn’t build that tractor, just put their name on it. Hinomoto was a tractor manufacturer in Japan. They manufactured under their own brand, Hinomoto, as well as for other international companies, including Massey Ferguson, Deutz-Allis, Simplicity and Allis-Chalmers. The company was formerly called Toyosha. Engines were manufactured under the Toyosha brand.

In 1990, the company became part of Hitachi Tierra, and the Hinomoto name was eventually discontinued in 1997.[1]

The E-series was manufactured from 2001 until 2006. The C-series from 1999until 2007. The N-series from 2002 until 2007, some tractor models are in production till 2013.

  3. Allis Chalmers had a plant in Appleton for Pump and Compressors I believe. Amer. Air Filter was owned by AC. I think they were in Louisville
